Frank Bergman of Spokane was electrocuted near Deer Park while trying to shake a ground squirrel out of an irrigation pipe. The pipe brushed a 7,200-volt power line while he was shaking it, Stevens County sheriff's officers said.

A Spokane Valley machine-shop operator was electrocuted yesterday when a piece of pipe he was holding came in contact with a 7200-volt electric transmission line.
State Patrolman Monte Robertson said Frank E. Bergman, 46, E10303 Twenty-sixth, was the victim of the accident near Benson lake in Stevens County.,
Robertson said Bergman's son-in-law, Joseph Sullivan, was burned on one foot in the accident.
Bergman, the operator of Frank's machine shop, E5708 First, and Sullivan were trying to get a squirrel out of a length of aluminum irrigation pipe when the accident occurred on the Sullivan ranch.
Bergman was a lifelong resident of Spokane and the Valley. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, and two sons, Stephen and Richard, all at the home; his daughter, Mrs. Barbara Sullivan, Loon Lake; a brother in Seattle, and three sisters, including Mrs. Ruth Hutchins, Spokane.
The body is at Thornhill's Valley funeral home.

Funeral service for Frank Bergman, 46, Spokane Valley rnachinery designer, will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Thornhill Valley funeral home. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Bergman was killed at a ranch near Benson lake in Stevens county Wednesday when an aluminum pipe he was holding came in contact with a high voltage power line.
Proprietor of Frank's Machine shop, E5708 First, Mr. Bergman designed a number of machines in use by area firms including a machine for fabricating continuous, welded seam aluminum irrigation pipe. He was a member of the Spokane County Sheriff's Posse and a lifetime resident of Spokane and the Valley.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Evelyn Bergman at the home, E10303 Twenty-sixth; two sons, Steven and Richard Bergman, both at the home; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Sullivan, Loon Lake, Wash.; a brother, Richard Bergman, Seattle; three sisters, Mrs. Dean Morgan, Lewiston, Idaho; Mrs. Ethel Hockett, Seattle, and Mrs. Ruth Hutchins, Spokane.
