Donna's life in summary by Donna on May 5, 2000

I was born May 1, 1927 on the Millard Caron farm near Currie, Minnesota. We were Catholic so we attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary (I.H.M.) Church in Currie. I attended the I.H.M. School for twelve years and graduated in 1945. In January 1946 I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and went to work for the Lindsay family as a maid. On the 15th of January I met William Norton and we were married November 16, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our first three children, William Millard, Cheryll Marie and Theresa Ann were born in Minneapolis. In June of 1952 I moved to Alaska. Bill had already gone up there in January of 1952. I drove the new Alcan Highway with my sister-in-law Betty [Charles's wife] and her three children, Dennis, Cork, and Nancy. Along with us were my brother-in-law Floyd Norton and a young man from Pipestone, Minnesota, Will Herman. We settled in Anchorage. Bill and I had three more children there named Sandra Jean, Kevin James and Shawn Francis. We built a home there in 1960 and lived in it until 1975 when Bill had a heart attack. We then moved to Port Orford, Oregon until 1989 and then moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1991 Bill passed away at the present home here in Portland. At this time, May 2000, I have six Grandchildren, Rhonda Marie Vail, Michael Palmer, Ryan Norton, Rachel Norton, Erin O'Leary and Karly Norton. I also have three Great Grandchildren, Amanda Vail, Mary Vail and Alexander Vail.
