Mr. Baker died Nov. 11, 2013, in Harker Heights. He was born July 18, 1932, in Coryell County; this city is known today as Copperas Cove.
He was a longtime resident and small-business owner. Mr. Baker owned and operated a local welding shop along with his son in Killeen for many years, before retiring.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Jackson Baker and Elva Boyd; a brother, Charles E. Baker; and a sister, Eva Faye Rogers.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia "Bebe" Baker; three children, Barbara Adams and her husband, Gordon, of Salado, Elijah Irvine Baker and his wife, D'Ann, of Killeen and Susan Honning and her husband, John, of Round Rock; one sister, Virginia M. Pool of Tyler; and three grandchildren, Michael Adams, Jonathan (J.T.) Honning and Lana Honning.
