Codean "Dene" Earwood Vest, 89, of Decatur passed away November 11, 2013, at Summerford Nursing Home. Visitation will be today, November 13, 2013, from noon to 1:45 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Chapel with Gary Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Vest was born on August 8, 1924, in Hulaco in Cullman County to Starling and Fannie Ella Earwood. She was retired from Sears, and was a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Archie Vest; two brothers, Amos Earwood and Lelton Earwood; two sisters, Armon Whisenant and Orean Anderson.
Survivors include daughters, Jan Satterfield (Farris) of Decatur, Joy Guthery (Stephen) of Hartselle; grandchildren, Myra Hester (David), Jay Satterfield, (Stacey), Joel Guthery (Ashley), Joanna Monahan (Matthew); five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and very special friend, Willard Hawk.
