Colleen B. Higdon [Stevensville]
STEVENSVILLE — Colleen B. Stewart Higdon, of Stevensville, died on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Hospice Center of Queen Anne's in Centreville. She was 79 years old.
Born on Dec. 22, 1930, in Gormania, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles O. Bosley and Ethel M. Taylor. She grew up in Western Maryland and attended Fort Hill High School in Cumberland. She married Howard E. Stewart and they resided in Hagerstown, where Colleen worked at Venice Inn & Restaurant serving as a hostess, waitress and bartender for several years before moving to Kent Island. She married Cal B. Higdon on Feb. 27, 1967. Colleen was an active volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliaries of both the American Legion Post 278 and the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting and ceramics.
Colleen is survived by two sons, two daughters, a brother, four sisters,11 grandchildren,five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Peer.
A memorial service was held at the American Legion Post 278 on Wednesday, May 12, at 1 p.m. on Kent Island.
