Leon, of Woodland passed away Tuesday after a brief illness. He was born in Campbell Township, the son of Bert and Mildred (Hess) Mesecar.

Leon worked for Gibson's in Greenville, MI until his retirement in 1980, but his greatest passion was for farming and especially his garden, growing an abundant amount of produce only to give the greatest share away to family and friends.

On December 29, 1944 he married Leta (Landon) Mesecar who preceded him in death in 2009, they were married 64 years.
Leon served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 serving as a member of a rifle squad in combat in Tunisia, served in the campaigns at Algeria & French Morocco he also did a variety of police work in and around Oran Africa helping to enforce military laws and regulations. He also guarded prisoners of war.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Mildred (Hess) Mesecar brothers Sheldon, Bruce, Merton, Elwood & Bert Jr.; sisters, Margaret Dye & Estella Kauffman.

Leon's family and friends celebrated his life on March 14, 2011 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Currie officiating.
