He came to Wisconsin in July of 1857 and settled on a farm near Loganville. In 1870, he opened a store with E. H. Newell but sold it in 1874 and went back to farming. He was also a surveyor. He served Sauk County as a senator and a assemblyman.
He came to live in Reedsburg in 1907.
Mr. and Mrs. Hulburt were the parents of eight children:
Alice M.; Frank D.; Hattie Constantine; Josephine M.; Lena Bella; Harvey L., Jesse and Arthur D.
