Jacqueline Fletcher, 88, of Eastland, passed away Sunday November 10, 2013, in Abilene.
Graveside services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche, will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 13, 2013, at the Mercers Gap Cemetery in Comanche County. The family will receive friends at the Heartland Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday the 12th. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
Jacqueline was born April 12, 1925, in Monrovia, Oklahoma, to Ed and Nobie (Summers) Melton.
After graduating high school, the World War II had begun and Jacqueline was the first Telephone Operator at Rattlesnake Bomber Base located in Peyote, TX.
Jacqueline married George O. Fletcher, Sr. on November 24, 1946. Jacqueline and George owned several successful small businesses, both in Odessa and Eastland, with Jacqueline serving as bookkeeper for each of them. She loved the Arts, drawing, painting, dance and theater, genealogy, and history. Jacqueline had an "artist's eye" with great sense of color and style. Jacqueline was a life long Christian, a member of 1st Baptist Church of Odessa, TX, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter and Ector County Historical Commission, She served terms as President of Odessa Art Association, President of Ector County Sheriffs Posse Women's Auxiliary, and helped established the Ector County Library's Presidential Museum.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband of 66 years, George O. Fletcher, Sr.; sons, George O. Fletcher, II of Houston TX, and J. Mark Fletcher of Granbury, TX; daughter, Suzanne (Fletcher) D'Amico and husband Don of Celina, TX; grandchildren, Andy, Melanie, Crystal, Jeremy George III, Donald, and Gabrielle; great granddaughters, Callie and Bailey.
She was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Nobie Melton.
