He was the son of Peter J. Stutz (8/1826-11/12/1912) and Martha J. Lowman Stutz (1849-c.1885), a descendent of Augustine Herrman, 1st Lord of Bohemia Manor.

He was the brother of: Hattie Stuts (1875-?), Sarah E. Stutz (1877-?) and Alice Jane Stutz Bishop (1/19/1879-4/19/1951), and Ella Lowman Stutz Walls (9/20/1885-8/?/1972). Hattie and Sarah died in childhood.

He was the husband of Ella K. Clough Stutz (1879-1956).

He was the father of Ada Stutz Larrimore (12/31/1911–5/29/1992).

He was born, lived and died in the house at 2nd & Market Streets in Crumpton, Maryland. Like his father before him, Capt. John was a fisherman and had expert knowledge of the Chester River from Millington to Chestertown.

CRUMPTON. Md., March 23 (Special). Funeral services for John Stutz, 71, husband of Mrs. Ella Stutz, who died Sunday (Mar. 21, 1954) at his home in Crumpton, will be held at his home at 1 p. m. tomorrow with interment in Crumpton Cemetery. Friends may call at his home tonight. The son of Peter and Jane Stutz. he had lived in Queen Anne s County all his life, and had been a fisherman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs Ada S. Larrimore, Wilmington, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Walls, Dover.
