George Crites was the eldest child of Andrew & Mary Harbaugh Crites,were among the earliest settlers in Dover Twp. The couple had 10 children Wm.F.,George Warren,George Washington,Wealthy B., Charles E., Emmet,Charles Earl, Clara B.,Harvey and Ann. Only Wm.F.,George Washington,Charles Earl,Emmet, and Harvey lived to be adults.George was an execellent capenter his talents can be seen in the old wing of the Dover High School,also built a 4 room house on 3d. St,that remained in the family till the 1960's. Member of the school board & the Masons of Tuscarawas Lodge # 59.original member of the Baptist Church established in 1840. Two yrs. after his wife Mary died in 1875 he remarr: Elizabeth Marbaugh a widow. he died 2 yrs lated of Kidney failure.
