J F Alford

Dillon, March 1 [1912] -- J F Alfor, 68 years old, died here this morning within a few minutes after being seized with an attack of acute indidgestion. He was in town only a few minutes before his death and was apparently in good health. He was a man of few words, but in his quiet manner had won the esteem of many friends. The larger part of his life was spent on the farm near Clio, it was near Old Selkirk that he was born and was one of a large family. About 10 years ago he moved to Dillon. In his early life he was married to Miss Annie David of Bennettsville and they have raised a large family. He is survived by his wife, four boys and two girls, Howard, Jimmie, Brooks, William, Annie and Mrs Charles H Burroughs. Also he is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Manton and Neill, and Miss Mary Ann and Mrs Doster McLean of McColl. The burial will be held at the old Alford burial grounds, about nine miles from Dillon. About two weeks ago he was preceeded to the grave by his brother, Daniel Alford, who also lived here and was a good citizen and reared a delightful family of children.
