Wilburn Barthel Oldham was born on November 3, 1919 in Palmyra, Tennessee, and he was the son of Dorris Thomas Oldham (1890–1977) and Helen Marie (Nesbitt) Oldham (1893–1972).

He was married to Nora Inez Russell (1921–2006), the daughter of John William Robert Russell (1899–1993) and Ollie Alma (Smith) Russell (1898–1975).

He enlisted in the US Army on January 14, 1941 and was discharged on November 27, 1945, having served during World War II. A member of First Church of the Nazarene where he was the former Sunday school superintendent, he was also a member of Gideons International, a former Rotary Club member, retired from Montgomery Ward and the retired owner of Service Auto Parts and Nora's Ladies Shop.

Living in Clarksville, Wilburn was 83 years old and married when he passed away at home on June 26, 2003.

Survivors included his widow Nora and son R Wayne Oldham in Clarksville, brother Raymond "Zeke" Oldham in Louisville, Kentucky and sisters Christine Gray of Louisville and Juanita Hodges of Clarksville.

Funeral Services were held on June 28th at First Church of the Nazarene, and burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville.
