Dorothy (Boomgarden) Heesch, age 89, of Thompson, IA passed away Thursday February 2, 2012 at Muse Norris Hospice Center in Mason City, IA.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday February 6th at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson, IA with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy Lucille Asmus Boomgarden Heesch was born September 28, 1922 on a farm near Thompson, Iowa, the daughter of Lippo and Anna (Bell) Asmus. She had one sister Ida who precedes her in death. She attended country school and graduated from the Thompson High School in 1940. She then completed one year of college in Britt. On September 8, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harvey Boomgarden. They farmed in the Thompson and Buffalo Center area for many years. To this union, 4 children were born. Harvey passed away in November of 1965. She married Melbourne Heesch in 1973. Dorothy remained in Thompson until her move to the Timely Mission Home in Buffalo Center, Iowa, in December of this past year.

She loved the Lord and was very active in her church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She passed time by quilting and playing games with her dear friends.

Survivors include her children; Marlys (John) Hocker of Clive; Barbara (Butch) Thomsen of Buffalo Center; Karen (Rudy) Campero of Des Moines; Paul Boomgarden of Clear Lake. Grandchildren include Steve Hocker, Lori (Brian) Weckman, Kris (Dan) Hepworth and Lisa (Brian) Thompson. Great-grandchildren: Samantha & MacKenzie Hocker, Cole & Aidan Weckman, Lydia & Ella Hepworth, and Hadlei & Harper Thompson, sister-in-laws and brothers in law Vernie & Stella Boomgarden, Larry Svedin, Vi Farland, Irene Attleson, & Bernard & Claudine Boomgarden, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Harvey Boomgarden & Mel Heesch, her sister and several sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
