Wally Jenkins, age 80 of Osakis was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, June 24, 2009 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.

Wallace James Jenkins was born on May 11, 1929 in Todd County, MN to Grant and Margaret (Dohmen) Jenkins. As a young man Wally served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. After his time in the service, he worked for Armourson Company, a meat packing company in Fargo, ND. He returned to Osakis and began working for the Osakis Silo Company, building concrete silos throughout central Minnesota. He married Cecelia Campbell and had five children. For the next twenty-seven years Wally was employed at Alex Concrete as a cement truck driver.
Wally was a member of the Osakis VFW Post # 7902 and the Osakis Sportsmens Club. He loved to socialize and enjoyed meeting people. He also spent many hours outdoors enjoying nature for he liked all types of animals. Traveling was another past time Wally enjoyed. He will long be remembered for his humoristic one-liners.
Wally is survived by his children, DeLyle 'Jim' Jenkins of Williston, ND, DeAnne (Richard) Steidl of Nelson, DeLores (Les) Butkowski of Osakis, DeLynn Jenkins of Pittsburg,TX and Deona (Dale) Munsterteiger of Melrose, MN; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a half sister, Angie Ohland of Long Prairie, MN; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, a grandson, Ransom Butkowski; five brothers, Leo, Myron, Dallas, Clarence and Roger Jenkins; 4 sisters, Beulah Hochhalter, Blanche White, Jessie Storkson and Leona Zabel.
Funeral services for Wally were held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis with Fr. Ralph Zimmerman officiating. Music was provided by the funeral choir. Interment was at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Clotho, MN. Honorary pallbearers were the staff at the Community Memorial Home and the members of the Osakis VFW Post #7902. Active bearers were Rick Steidl, Les Butkowski, Dale Munsterteiger, Aaron Browen, James Larsen, Gerry & James Rogers, Marty Jenkins.
