Obituary of Mrs. Sidney Hohensee
Mrs. Ida Hohensee, widow of the late Sidney Hohensee of near Daykin, died Wednesday, March 23, 1938, in the Lutheran Hospital at York, Nebr., following an operation. She had reached the age of 63 years, 6 months and 6 days.
Ida Strasser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Strasser, was born Sept. 17, 1874, in Burk Co., Windsor, Pa. In 1878 she moved with her parents to Middleton, S. D.
She was united in marriage at Middleton, S. D., to Sidney K. Hohensee of York, Nebr., on Dec. 26, 1899. To this union four children were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Hohensee established their home near York, Neb., after their marriage, where they remained until 1903 when they located on their farm one mile east and 1/2 mile north of Daykin, Nebr. This was their home continuously until their death.
Mr. Hohensee preceded his wife in death, October 26, 1928.
Mrs. Hohensee became a confirmed member of the Lutheran church in York Co., and later became a member of the St. John's Lutheran church in Daykin where she was an active and interested worker in the church.
Before leaving for the hospital in York, Mrs. Hohensee, with her children who reside in this vicinity, partook of the Lord's supper in her home with Rev. Knollman officiating.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Dewey Hohensee of near Daykin, Mrs. (Oscar) Lillian Rahmel of Richfield, Wis., Miss Lula Hohensee or near Daykin and Elmer Hohensee of Daykin. There are four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the St. John's Lutheran church in Daykin Sunday afternoon with Rev. C. W. Knollman in charge of the services. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery near Daykin.
Pallbearers were Ben Marshman, Ernest Haake, Gustav Drees, Frank Marshman, Will Ebke and Henry Strothman.
Among the large attendance at the service were many friends and relatives from York, Nebr., Western and from a distance, Mrs. Anna Henry and daughter, Miss Helen and Miss Mary Western of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rahmel of Richfield, Wis., Mesdames Minnie Wiehesick, Henry Smit, Wilson Strasser and the Messrs. J. B. George and Calvin Strasser all from South Dakota.

Mrs. Anna Hohensee, widow of the late John Hohensee, and Mrs. Ida Hohensee, widow of the late Sidney Hohensee, died within three days. Mrs. John Hohensee died on Monday, March 21, and Mrs. Sid Hohensee died on Wednesday, March 23. Their husbands were brothers and resided many years near Daykin. Funeral of the former was Thursday and the latter on Sunday.
