James was called Jim by his family and friends. His co-workers called him 'Jimmer' or 'Wattel'. Jim is the son of Clarence P. and Jeanne A. Wachtel. He grew up with his brother, Pete.

Jim is a veteran of Vietnam - United States Army.

Jim married Beverly Helling. Together they raised their children: Kimberly and Bryan.

Jim was employed by Ferguson Electric Construction Co., Inc. as a Purchasing Agent and later, Purchasing Manager.
Jim started out in the Shipping and Receiving Department learning the business and procedures. He took Karl Beccue's position who had retired.

Memorial services were held at First Presbyterian Church of East Aurora.

Memorial contributions may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
