Married to Goldie Williams, age 16, daughter of William and Myrtle, on May 12, 1916 in Maryville, WV. Ceremony performed by N.B. Cole. Marion was a coal miner. His WWI draft registration of June 5, 1917, states he was of medium height and build, with light brown hair and blue eyes. At that time, he and Goldie lived in McDowell, WV, and he was working for Solvay.

His death certificate is online at the West Virginia Division of Culture and History but is incorrectly indexed as "Leiber." The form itself is correct. Marion was treated at Welsh Hospital #1 starting November 30 and died almost two weeks later from what appears to have been a very traumatic injury, possibly on the job, with the doctor's description: "contusions of the body, probably internal injuries."
