Mrs. Lizzie Nowels, 72, Dies Saturday At Home in Warsaw

Mrs. Lizzie M. Nowels, 72, died at her home in Warsaw Saturday night following three strokes she had suffered since last August. She suffered a second stroke two weeks ago and the final one Thursday night.

Lizzie Rogers was born near New Castle May 22, 1873, the daughter of Jacob M. and Mary Rogers. After graduating from the public schools she took a course in music at Baldwin-Wallace college. She joined the M.P. church at Mt. Nebo early in life and was active in church work until her death. On Thanksgiving day, 1902, she was married to George P. Nowels, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, T/Sgt. Roger B. Nowels, APO San Francisco, and Capt. Howard W. Nowels, Camp Roberts, Cal.; two daughters, Mrs. Lois E. Besst, Warsaw, and Mrs. Helen Wyncoop, Mt. Vernon, and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at the home after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday, at which time the body will be taken to the Warsaw Methodist church. Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. Wednesday in charge of Rev. R.P. Hudnell, Coshocton, who was pastor of Mrs. Nowels' church 50 years ago. Rev. Hudnell will be assisted by Rev. D.E. Syler, Warsaw, and Rev. Glenroy Shoup, Fresno. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery, Warsaw.
