GALENA, KANSAS: Aaron D. "Doyle" Castleberry, age 86, went to be with the Lord and family and friends who have gone to Heaven sooner at 4:45 pm, Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Galena Nursing Center, Galena, KS.

Doyle was born August 2, 1927 in Shannon Texas to the late Aaron and Lou Castleberry.

Doyle graduated from Henrietta Texas High School in the Class of 1944. That same year the family moved to Galena, KS. Doyle went to work as a power shovel operator.

Doyle attended the Galena Assembly of God Church. His first attendance was the Christmas program in 1944. There was a young lady that played the part of an Angel that got Doyle's attention. That Angel was June Nadine McGuire. They got married Sept 1, 1946.

He served in the U S Army from 1945 – 1947.

In Nov 1947 he went to work for Horton Office Supply. He owned and operated Doyle's Office Machines, Galena, KS from 1955 to 1979. He then started the Financial Accounting Systems from 1979 until his retirement Jan. 2005.

He became a member of Galena Assembly of God in 1947 where he served on the Board of Directors for over 30 years. He was a member of Joplin Down Town Lions Club. He was on the Board of Directors for Nat'l Office Machine Dealer Assn for 18 years. He served on the Galena Planning and Zoning Board for 12 years. He also served on Cherokee County Ambulance Executive Board and the Galena Long Term Planning Committee.

He is survived by his wife, June Castleberry, Galena, KS; two daughters, Karen Castleberry, Galena, KS and Judy Maddox, Joplin, MO; one brother, Kay Castleberry (wife, Gayla), Graham, TX; one sister, Gay Tillman, Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ara Lou Tillman.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday November 11, 2013 at Galena Assembly of God Church under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home Galena, KS. Pastor Larry Griffin of Faith Assembly of God, Joplin MO will officiate.

Burial will be in Gandy Cemetery, Galena, KS.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
