Alan Garner died in Springfield, Virginia of Parkinson's disease on July 26, 2013. He was born in Washington, D.C. on July 7, 1925, to Alan Freeman Garner and Dorothy Seaton Garner. He grew up in Falls Church, Virginia and Attended Western High School and Purdue University. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in the class of 1948A. He earned a Master's Degree in Physics from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 1958. He Became a Naval Aviator in 1950 and served in Anti-Submarine Aviation, becoming a Landing Signal Officer. After retiring from the Navy he worked as an individual tax preparer, in Maryland, New Hampshire and Virginia. There will be a service at the Greenspring Village Chapel on August 10, 2013 at 12:00 PM.
