JoAnn Prieto passed away on October 24, 2013 in Lodi at the age of 79. Born in Grand Junction, Colorado to Basilio and Alcarita Leyba, she grew up there with fond memories of spending time with her brother Benny. She was full time homemaker, and greatly enjoyed her time caring for her children and grandchildren, and was an amazing cook – cherishing her time preparing meals with her sister Dorothy. Her hobbies included going to garage sales, thrift shops, and going out dancing with her husband, watching TV and classic movies, and listening to Elvis.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband John Ponce Lerma Sr., children: Genevieve Lerma, John Ponce Lerma Jr., and Gilbert Lerma; her parents; sisters: Pauline Paradela, Lucy Loumis, Dorothy Manaois; and brothers John "Benny" Leyba, and Abraham Leyba.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Socorro "Harold" Prieto, daughters: Yvonne Lerma-Duenas (Joe), Rachel Lerma-Oviedo, Gloria Lerma Cox, Deborah Lerma, Juanita "Dolly" Prieto-Castleman (Kenny), Lydia Prieto-DiNoto, and Linda Prieto-Lopez, 23 Grandchildren, and 32 Great-grandchildren; sisters: Beatrice Leyba, Katherine Leyba, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 at E. Harney Lane in Lodi. Visitation will take place from 2-8 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home 831 Industrial Way, Lodi.
