Cedric moved from the east coast to the west coast and it was at that time that he began to use the name John. It was not a legal change, but one that he preferred.
Frances Bean Lambert was actually his step-mother, but she raised him from the time that he was 2-3 yrs. old. His real mother was Evelyn Gertrude Thomas

What follows is a poem written by Cedric

Did you see God today?

Did you see God today?
If you didn't, don't despair
He was right by your side

Did you have a chance to help a stranger?
Someone you never knew?
And when you walked away
He probably shed a tear for you

Did you see His sunrise this morning?
Oh what a beautiful sight
Try to catch His sunset
Just before dark tonight.

Did you marvel at the beauty of the sea?
Did a pretty girls smile catch your eye?
Or the wonder of the world did it
go right around you and pass you by?

Did you stop to smell the flowers,
or were you moving a little to fast?
Do you have a lot of material things
that never seem to last?

Two thousand years ago
Jesus walked the land
He promised us salvation
If you would take his hand.
