Doran Cargile Bollman, 105, was called home by the Lord on April 23, 2012. He was born August 30, 1906 in Davis County, Iowa to Delmar John and October Keith Heady Bollman. Cargile lived his entire adult life in Davis County. He married Mabel Clare Wilcox April 5, 1927, in Bloomfield. They were married 72 years until her death in 1999.
Cargile's family helped found the Locust Grove Church where Cargile served as Sunday school superintendent and song leader. Cargile and Mable both taught in rural Davis County Schools. In 1941 he purchased the Bollman Family Farm near Pulaski, Iowa. He was active in soil conservation work and raised registered Angus cattle. Cargile also managed the Davis County ASCS office and sold real estate. He volunteered at the Lord's Cupboard and visited people in nursing homes. Cargile lived in his own home until he was 100-Years-old, then moved to the family farm where he continued his hobby of carving cedar wood crosses mounted on natural bases.
Cargile is survived by 3 sons, Robert( Jane) Bollman of Danville, Stephan (Dorothy )Bollman, Doran (Patricia) Bollman; daughter, Phyllis Wise; 12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Cargile was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Herbert Bollman; sister, Lucille Luko; 2 granddaughters, Sally Bollman, Susie Bollman; an infant grandson, John Dennis Bollman; and son-in-law,
Bob Wise.
