Casper Nenstiel died Saturday, at the home of his son, J. E. Nenstiel, a few miles southwest of Elmwood, after an illness of several months, from cancer of the stomach.
Father Nenstiel was born Nov. 29, 1837, in Weiler, Saxony, Weimar, Germany. He emigrated to this country in 1865, settling at Pittsburg, Pa., where he resided five years.
He was married to his now sorrowing wife, nee Elizabeth Bauer, in 1867. To this union were born six children, all of whom are living but one.
Ceceased [sic] moved to Cass county, Neb., in 1870. In 1890, with his family, he moved to Colorado, where they lived for five years, returning to Cass county again. He was converted to God at a camp meeting held on Louisville circuit in 1875, and joined the Evangelical Association and was a faithful member in the church.
Father Nenstiel enjoyed good health during his life time until last winter, when he was taken very ill with lung fever, and later suffered with cancer of the stomach. In all his suffering he was very patient, not complaining at all. His death occurred Saturday, May 5, aged 68 year, 5 months and 6 days. He leaves a widow, five children and twenty-two grandchildren to mourn his loss. May they meet each other in Heaven.
Funeral services were held from the German Evangelical church Monday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. Wishmann, and were largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the Elmwood cemetery.
