Evening Times; Cumberland, Maryland, Friday, March 15, 1957: "P. J. Carroll, Veteran State Employe Dies-Patrick Joseph Carroll, Jr, 64, supervisor in insurance division of State Employment Service office here, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Carroll who resided at 308 Cumberland St. had been in ill health for a number of months.  He began his service for the state about 20 years ago in the local office as a clerk and had been manager of the SES office from 1944 to 1951.  A member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13 for 20 years, Mr. Carroll served on the post executive committee for four years and also on various committees.  He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, the Holy Name Society of the parish and Voiture 164, 40 & 8.  He was a veteran of World War I.  He was born June 25, 1893 in Midland, a son of the late James P. and Margaret (Kenny) Carroll and had been a resident of Cumberland for 50 years.  He is survived by his widow, Ellen (Taylor) Carroll, who is the daughter of the late John T. Taylor, former business manager of the Cumberland Evening Times and Mary (Morehead) Taylor.  Also surviving are five brothers: Simon K. and John E. Carroll, both of this city; James G., Thomas and Paul, all of Baltimore and three sisters:  Miss Agnes Carroll, city; Mrs. Thomas Stephens, Mt. Savage and Mrs. J.
