Death Comes To Mrs. O.K. Day, 84
Mrs. Mary E. Day, 84, of 325 West Williams street, died at the Ottumwa hospital at 5 p.m. Sunday following a short illness. Mrs. Day was the widow of O.K. (Bob) Day, a former South Ottumwa businessman, who died in 1955.
The daughter of John and Jane Houk Albright, she was born in Davis county, April 20, 1874. She had lived in Ottumwa for the past 27 years and was a member of the Plymouth Congregational church. She was married to Mr. Day October 1, 1896, at Ash Grove.
Surviving are a son, Guy Day, south Ottumwa businessman and city councilman; a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Tucker of Denver; a grandson, Robert Tucker of Indianapolis; and a great-granddaughter, Janice Tucker also of Indianapolis. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Merle; a daughter, Dorothy, a brother, and three sisters. She was the last of a family of five children.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Carey Christy, pastor of the Plymouth Congregational church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
