Was born February 14, 1921 in Rural Ft. Cobb, OK to Granville and Eunice Bagley Rice. She passed away November 1, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 92.
Ruey grew up in the Apache area. She married Alvin Loy Sawyer May 20, 1938 in Lawton, OK. She graduated high school. Ruey worked a couple of jobs, but she devoted herself to being a farmwife and loving mother. She worked hard alongside her husband in the Broxton area until he passed away in 1966. She attended college in Chickasha. She was a gifted seamstress, and she enjoyed cake decorating, as well. Ruey was a member of the Eastern Star and the Mt. Zion Christian Church Ladies' Aid where she spent many hours quilting. She took in and cared for many animals over the years. She loved her family and always kept in touch with them.
She lived on the family farm in Broxton until she married Albert Wernli in 1994 and moved to Los Angeles, CA. He passed away in 1998 and she returned to live in Anadarko. After experiencing health problems, she moved to Tahlequah in 2001 to be near her son.
She is survived by:

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 5th at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Apache, OK. Burial will follow under the direction of Crews Funeral Home
