Rev. Clemer Gene Pickelsimer, 85, of Murphy died Monday, April 16, 2012 at his residence. He was a native of Cherokee County but had lived in Hickory, NC for 25 years before moving back to Murphy in 1987. He pastored in Catawba County for 25 years. He was a member of the Journey Church.
He was the son of the late Owen Pickelsimer and Frances Burgess Pickelsimer Henson.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Stella Johnson Pickelsimer; a daughter, Galey Dimercurio of Farmington Hills, MI; a son, Donald Pickelsimer and wife, Jane of Clinton Township, MI; a sister, Pearl Peeler of Pacolet, SC; a brother, Robert Pickelsimer and wife, Sue of Dalton GA; and 51 grand, great, and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Patrick Garrett officiating. Interment was in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were David and Justin Chafins, Brian Reese, Tracy Geiger, Charles McClain, and Michael Hyde.
The family received friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
