She was born near Cayot's Corner in Cecil County. The family moved to Baltimore several years later, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
She married Jack Stackhouse, a divorced salesman who lodged down the street from her parents' home, in December 1922. They had no children, and divorced in 1937. When overtaken by decreptitude, she sold her house at 2842 Guilford Avenue and pooled resources with her little sister Gussie. At the time of her death, both resided at the Marylander Apartments.
