TEXAS CITY - Carl Frederick Hedges, Sr., 84, of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Mainland Medical Center. A Masonic graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock with the Rev. Terrie Williams officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.
Mr. Hedges was born August 17, 1918, in Burkburnett, Texas. He was a retired office manager and a longtime resident of Kilgore, Texas. He was a 56- year member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM #1118, Texas City, the El Mina Shrine in Galveston, a member of the Lions Club and the First Christian Church of Texas City. Mr. Hedges was a decorated veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his brother Lester L.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, June Hedges, of
Texas City; son Carl F. Hedges, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Carthage, Texas; daughter Carla Lambright and husband
Tommy of Texas City; grandchildren, Monica Sample, Steven McLane, Kimberley Hedges Funderburk, Anthony McLane, Mandy Lambright, Carl F. Hedges III, and Candy Lambright; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters Kathryn Presley of Talco, Texas, and Connie Appling of Kilgore.
Pallbearers will be Carl F. Hedges III, Jason Funderburk, Steven McLane, Anthony McLane, Casey McLane and Frank Schurwon. Honorary pallbearers are members of the
Masonic Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 815 Market St., Galveston, TX., 77550-9969.
