MRS. L.E.P. DENNIS CLAIMED BY DEATH
Mrs. Rebecca J. Dennis, widow of the late Senator L. E. P. Dennis and one of the most highly esteemed residents of Crisfield, passed away at her home on Main street, this city, about 8 o'clock last night. Mrs. Dennis had been an invalid for more than a year, and her death was therefore, not unexpected. The sad news of her passing, however, has cast a mantle of sorrow over the community by which she was greatly beloved.

Mrs. Dennis was a native of Wilmington, and was before marriage Miss Rebecca J. Benson. She was married to Mr. Dennis in 1869, and two years later moved with her husband to Crisfield, where she has since resided. Throughout her life she was active in church affairs, and greatly interested in public charity and had occupied for many years an exalted place in the minds and heart of the people of Crisfield. Hers was a sweet, gentle disposition which radiated with the christian spirit, and assured for her not only a lasting place in the memory of those she has left behind, but a place of rest and repose in the Paradise of her maker, after her earthly work had ended.

Mrs. Dennis was 80 years old last Saturday, July 25th. She and her highly esteemed husband were one of the most devoted couples in Crisfield and since his death, about five years ago, she had been in declining health.

The deceased is survived by one son, E. Benson Dennis; and two daughters, Mrs. Jas. H. Sterling and Mrs. Wm. M. Wooster. Funeral services will be held from Immanuel M.E. Church, of which she was a devout member, Monday afternoon.
