CHARLES HEFNER Charles Julian Hefner, Sr., age 81, of Caledonia, MS, passed away April 14, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be Monday, April 18, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia, MS, with full military honors. Rev. Don Harding will officiate with Memorial Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Hefner was born July 5, 1929, in Knoxville, TN, to the late John Lester and Cora Etta Young Hefner, Sr. He was retired from the United States Air Force and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Hefner was the recipient of two Air Force Commendation Medals for meritorious service. He also retired from Omnova, working there for over 20 years. Mr. Hefner was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church, and in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Matthews Hefner. Survivors include his sons, Charles J. Hefner, Jr. of Marion,TX, and Irv Hefner and his wife Mary of West Liberty, OH, daughter, Jan Dodson and her husband Walter of Caledonia, MS, grandchildren, Bailey Hefner of West Liberty, OH, Chase Hefner of West Liberty, OH, Marlys Hefner Richardson of IN, Eve Hefner Witnok of Caledonia, MS, Kelly Hefner Gerben of IN, and Emily Hefner of MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
