Enlisted May 7, 1862. He fought with Company E and G the 32nd Infantry. John was discharged June 2, 1865. A letter to Noah Tyson confirms John was seen walking home and was very sick with dysentery. He never made it back to Johnson County. This memorial stone was placed in his memory."
