After suffering three weeks from a broken hip caused by a fall on an icy sidewalk, Mrs. Anna Griebel, of 1717 W. 9th St., died yesterday afternoon at three o'clock at mercy hospital. Her advanced years made recovery doubtful from the first. Mrs. Griebel had been a resident of Davenport for 58 years coming here from Germany with her parents when she was nine years old. She was born May 23, 1859 in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hansen. On December 24, 1877 she was married to Fred Griebel who preceded her in death April 10, 1925. She was a member of the Zima? Lutheran church and an active worker in the ladies a society. She was affiliated with the Cedar branch camp of the Royal neighbors, the old settlers Association, and Trene Schwestern Harugad ? . In all her associations Mrs.Griebel was loyal and sincere and her passing will leave a vacancy not to be filled. Surviving are the following children, Mrs. E. P. Ewald, Emil Griebel, and Mrs. H. J. Burmeister all of Davenport, Mrs. Charles Maas of Chicago, Mrs. Harry Ewing of New York City and Mrs. R. Murphy of Rock Island, nine grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. Mary Jansen of Davenport and Mrs. Charles Lamb of Harlan Iowa, and one brother Harry Hansen of Fairbury Illinois. Funeral services will be held from the late home Sunday at 2:30 PM with burial at Fairmount cemetery.
