Obituary - LESLIE A. BELL

American Fork, Utah

Leslie A. Bell was born in Albion, Idaho on June 12, 1916, the second of eight children, five boys and three girls, born to Jennie Harris and Albert Bell. Les, as he was known by those who knew him, spent his early life on the farm and spent many hours working with his father and helping the neighbors. Here is where he learned the true work ethic.

His formal education was all spent in Albion where he attended the Albion State Normal Grade School, the Albion High School, graduating next to high in his class and on to the Albion State Normal Teachers College, graduating with a Junior High School Teachers Certificate. He was an active participant in athletics in high school and college.

After graduation, Les taught school for two years as a grade school principal, during which time he met and married his wife Mona. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Most of his working years were in association with Utah Power and Light Company, a period of thirty-seven years. Thirteen of those years were with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers representing the employees of Utah Power & Light Co., Western Colorado Power Co., Idaho Falls City Electric, Mountain State Line Constructors chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association and various other companies associated with the electrical industry. This was regarding labor relations, matters of contract negotiations, employment, discharge, grievance, etc. At the time of his retirement, Les was employed full time with Utah Power & Light Co. as a supervisor.

Les was always an active church worker serving in a variety of church callings ~ Home Teacher, Ward Teacher Supervisor, Elder's Quorum President, High Priest Group Leadership, Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Ward Mission Leader, Stake Missionary and Ward Clerk.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters; two brothers; and his loving wife Mona. Survivors include two sons, Leslie A. Jr., and Terry D. (Susan); eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
