He was a retired teacher and vice principal from the Kenton County School District, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Odd Fellows Home, Okla., Retired Teachers Association, VFW, and the American Legion. His wife, Ruth Caldwell, and a daughter, Rose Mason, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Dennis Caldwell and Dean Caldwell, both of Demossville; a daughter, Marlene Downs of Independence; a sister, Mary Minder of Glendora, Calif.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardnersville Cemetery.
