Obituary: PEKIN, IL - Bertha F. Garlisch, 79, of 1409 Hamilton St. since 1982, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, at Hallmark House Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 29, 1921, in Mason County to James F. Sr. and Sarah A. Landis Edwards, she married Damon W. Myers in 1939 in Mason County. He died on April 22, 1954, in Pekin. She later married Alfred F. Garlisch on Aug. 26, 1954, in Manito. He died in October 1976.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Richard Myers, in 1944; two brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Garlisch of Pekin; two sisters, Marie (and Dick) Robertson of Mason City and Christy Williams of Canton; and two brothers, Walter (and Emma) Edwards of Canton and James (and Beverly) Edwards Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla.

She had been a licensed practical nurse at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Pekin Hospital and Floy's Nursing Home in Pekin. She later became a farmer's wife.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin and was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manito, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member and former secretary of the Tabitha Society.
