Mary Kathleen Hayes Sports, 90, widow of Aubrey Earl Sports, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the residence of her son.

Mrs. Sports was born in Marlboro County on November 21, 1922, a daughter of the late Elijah Hayes and Annie Bullard Hayes.

She grew up in Marlboro County and graduated from Blenheim High School. Mrs. Sports received a degree from a business college. She loved quilting and gardening and had a great love for her grandchildren.

She was survived by a son, William A. (Marcia) Sports of Georgetown; two daughters, Jackie Sports (William) of Charlotte, NC and Judy Sports of Moncks Corner; a special son, Shawn (Cheryl) James of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Michelle (Chad) Young, Patrick (Kim) Sports, and Nicholas Cooper, all of Georgetown, Christy Shannon and Lisa Holley, both of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony Pritchard of Georgia; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter and Caroline Young and Drake Sports, all of Georgetown, and Elijah Holley, Bud Davis, and Noah Shannon, all of Charlotte, NC.

She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; a son, Robert Earl Sports; a daughter, Bonnie Lynn Sports; two grandsons, William Aubrey Sports Jr. and John Aubrey McClary; a granddaughter, Eva Jane Sports; two sisters, Ruby Clark and Jettie Hobbs; and four brothers, William, David, Charles, and Marion Hayes.

Graveside services were Saturday, November 2, 2013, in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Wayne Elliott officiated. Mayer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
