He graduated from Mason High School in 1963 and shortly thereafter, enlisted with the US Navy during the Vietnam War, serving from 1963-1967. David worked for Fisher Body and the Board of Water and Light fresh out of the Navy, worked as an apprentice with Federal Drop Forge as a press operator, and finally, worked as a pipe fitter with Wyeth.
He grew up on a farm, had an appreciation for Harleys, hot rods, oldies music, trees, wildlife and bears, in particular, and his many other hobbies. David was also a proud member of the Mason's in Lancaster, PA. He was a reserved, proud patriotic man who enjoyed all of his freedoms, and never backed down from anything. David was a hardworking man who provided for his family first and foremost and was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family in need.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Balzer; son, William (Jessica) Balzer of Lansing; grandchildren, Veronica, Ray and William Jr; brother, George Balzer; nieces, Doty and Tracie; beloved dog, Bear.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Carolyn "Rabbit" Balzer.
