Wilbur Victor Smith was born November 12, 1895, in Mahomet, Illinois. He was the fifth of five children born to Wilson Crandal and Paulina Jane (Silvey) Smith. He married Ethel Rebecca Zook, December 30, 1914, in Fisher [sic: Urbana], Illinois. They had three children, Julian Smith, Ruth (Smith) Noble, and Forrest Eugene "Frosty" Smith. Wilbur died July 30, 1967, in Urbana, Illinois, and was buried August 3, 1967, in Shiloh Cemetery, Mahomet, Illinois.
