Born in Albuquerque, NM in August 1910 as the second of two children of Abram B. ("Abe") and Inez D. Banta (maiden name, Trujillo). Brought home to the remote community of Aragon in Catron county, NM where her father ran a sheep ranch. Following the untimely death of her mother just 5 months after her birth, sent "back east" with her older brother William Andrew ("Bill") to be raised by Banta family members in Hackensack, NJ. In 1925, at the age of 15, eloped with Lee Ganey to Elkton, MD. The couple had nine children (see 4th & 5th photos): Alan, Bob, Joanne, Marian, Frances, Lee Jr., Inez ("Inie," her namesake), Bonnie, and Bill.

During World War II, worked as an inspector for the Office of Price Administration (OPA) to help enforce food rationing and pricing regulations. Later, worked as a bookkeeper for the Social Security Administration (SSA), Maryland Dept. of Health, and Frito-Lay. Enjoyed reading, gardening, and putting together intricate landscape jigsaw puzzles in her leisure time. Was also an avid fan of all things related to the Peanuts comic strip (especially loved that little dog Snoopy!).

She was — and remains in our hearts and memories — the beloved and respected matriarch of our large extended family.
