Coventry - Vera F. (Greaves) Albro, "Grammy Vera", 86, formerly of Mapledale Street, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at the West View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in West Warwick. She was the wife of the late Dexter B. Albro II.

Born in Lincoln, a daughter of the late James A. and M. Amelia (Swindells) Greaves, she graduated from Coventry High School and lived in the Anthony Section of Coventry for many years before moving to New England Bay in October of 2010.

She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Church, Scituate, where she sang in the choir for many years and as a member of the Women's Group worked endless hours at church suppers, bazaars and rummage sales.

She was a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; a former Girl Scout leader and a Chaplaincy Office volunteer at Kent County Hospital.

Vera's numerous interests in life included boating and fishing on Narragansett Bay; needlework, cake decorating, vegetable gardening, cooking and baking. She enjoyed many years of visiting with friends over coffee at Newport Creamery and was an avid collector of pigs.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca M. Lussier and husband, Rev. Bradford D. Lussier, of Orleans, MA; son-in-law Richard J. Therrien and wife Deborah; seven grandchildren: Rachel McKendree, Jessica McLean, Daniel J. Lussier, Deanna M. Gillis, Richard P. Therrien, Katie & Benjamin Hodge; eight great grandchildren: Summer & Caleb Gillis, Sophie, Alana & Justin McKendree, Lesley Therrien, Dexter & Lionel McLean and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was the mother of the late Lesley Lee Therrien and sister of the late Clarice A. Pendlebury. To all who knew her, Vera will be remembered as a feisty, yet warm and generous person.

Calling hours will be held TODAY, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Church, Scituate. Burial will be in Maple Root Cemetery, Coventry.
