The daughters were Elizabeth Patterson Baldwin and her sister Hellen Marr Patterson Paynter. Thomas moved from Monroe County, Ohio, to Washington County, Ohio, to adjacent Wood County WV and then to Alton KS. His mother, Elizabeth Baldwin, died before her mother, Sarah Jennings Patterson Brookover. After Elizabeth and her mother died in Washington County, Ohio, Hellen and her family moved from there to Alton KS, too, and lived with Thomas's family while the Paynter's sod home was being made. The Paynters are buried in Kansas.
But Thomas left Kansas for Idaho after his wife and child or two died at Alton.
Their surviving children, according to the 1885 state census were Theodore, Stephen, Albert (buried in this cemetery, also), Orah, Eliza, Ruth and Arvile.
