James "Doc" Clarence Duffee, 92, of Galatia, died 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, surrounded by his family at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
He was born in Harrisburg on Jan. 29, 1918, to the late Goldman and Louisa (Simpson) Duffee.
Doc provided for his family and retired from the American Bridge Company of U.S.
Steel in Gary, Ind. After retirement, he was a member of Galatia I.O.O.F. and served on the Galatia Village Board for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Chapman Duffee; daughters and son-in-law, Sherry and Kevin of Galatia and DuWanna of Harrisburg; three granddaughters and their husbands. He was also survived by five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Duffee was preceded in death by two daughters, Audrey Faye Mitchell and Sheila Lorraine Robinson; two grandchildren, Rhonda Rule and Tracy Torres; his brothers, Finley, Moab, Carl, Densial, GB; and a sister, Lela. He also lost two sisters in infancy.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at Sloan Funeral home in Galatia, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
