Peter Preston Adams, a most respected citizen of Cannelton, died at his home on Fourth Street last Friday morning. Mr. Adams had been in poor health for more than a year but death came rather suddenly and was quite a shock to the family. Mr. Adams was born at Tobinsport in this county (Perry County), December 15, 1862 and was the son of Alfred and Lavina Adams. He came to Cannelton in 1880 and the following year was married to Miss Sarah Sapp. To this union were born six children, one son, Wm. A. Adams, Five daughters, Mrs W. M. Chapman (Louisa "Lula"), Mrs. G. R. Wagner (Laura - my grandmother), Mrs. Wilbur Aldridge (Mabel), and Miss Edna Adams. Mary died in infancy. Mr. Adams led a quiet, useful life, was industrious and dealt always in an honest and upright manner with all. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a man who hd the respect of all who knew him.
The funeral was held at the family home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Debruler of the M.E. church had charge of the services. Interment was in Cliff cemetary.
