Harry Applegate, 96, of Wayne Street Extension, Claysville, died in Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va., on Tuesday, May 2, 1978, at 10 p.m. after a short illness.
Born in Richhill Township, Greene County, on February 27, 1882, he was the son of
Robert and Hulda Belle Applegate.
He lived in the Claysville Community for the past 65 years where he had followed
the carpenter trade and farming retiring in 1955 .
He was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church.
On February 1, 1908, he married Anna Elliott, who died in 1933. He was remarried April 1, 1944, to Mildred Mounts, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John Applegate of Massilon, Ohio, and Woodrow Applegate of Claysville; three daughters, Becky Applegate, at home, Mrs. Glenn (Anna Mae) Swartz and Mrs. Frank (Martha) Logsdon, both of Claysville R. D. 2; three granddaughters and five grandsons; two half- sisters, Mrs. Goldie Isiminger of Waynesburg and Mrs. Florence Snyder of Pittsburgh.
One daughter, two brothers and four sisters are deceased.
Interment will be in the Claysville Cemetery.
