Charles Tillman Kinard Sr, 72, of 112 Crestline Drive, South Congaree, died Thursday in Richland Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Allendale County, a son of the late Charles Hamilton and Cynthia Padgett Kinard. Mr Kinard was a retired builder and real estate broker. He wa a Mason, a Woodman of the World and a member of Congaree Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs Sarah Katherine Shumpert Kinard; a daughter, Mrs Sarah Kinard Clampitt of Shelby, NC; two sons, Charles Tillman Kinard Jr and Douglas Hamilton Kinard of West Columbia; 7 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Alma Kinard Cushman of Thomson, Ga and Mrs Jessie Lee Kinard Dyches of Summerville; two brothers, Harvley C Kinard of Riverdale, Ga, and George Mayfield Kinard of Aiken.

Services will be 4 pm today in Congaree Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Pelion.
