RETIRED MINISTER TAKEN BY DEATH
Rev. A. Jacob Burkholder Dies In 87th Year At Shiremanstown
BURIAL AT DILLSBURG
Shiremanstown, June 17. - Rev. A. Jacob Burkholder, a retired minister of the United Brethren faith, died at 2 o'clock this morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Greenawalt, 107 West Main street (sic), this place, where he had resided for the past six years. He was aged 86 years, five months and three days. Death was caused by a complication of diseases from which he had suffered for about a year.
Rev. Mr. Burkholder was a former pastor of the Franklintown United Brethren church (sic), having retired about seven years ago to make his home here. His wife died in 1925 while he was pastor at Franklintown.
He leaves one son, Lloyd Burkholder, of Chester, the daughter with whom he resided; and a brother, Rev. W. R. Burkholder, of Chambersburg. The body was removed by Funeral Director G. K. Cocklin, of the Klugh establishment, to the Dillsburg funeral home to be prepared for burial. It may be viewed Wednesday evening at the Greenawalt home from 7 to 9 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of the daughter, with interment in the Dillsburg cemetery (sic). Rev. E. M. Funk, of Strinestown, assisted by Rev. D. A. Powell, present pastor of the Franklintown church, but residing at Shippensburg, will officiate.
