James M. Karns, 73, a former resident of Dillsburg, where he conducted a blacksmith shop for 40 years, died Tuesday morning, at his residence, Carlisle, where he has been residing the past eight years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Abagail Karns, and seven children, including Mrs. (sic) Beulah Karns and Miss Maxine Karns, all of Dillsburg, and three sisters, including Mrs. William Schriver, Dillsburg. The body was taken to the late home of Mr. Karns, at Dillsburg, by Funeral Director Bruce S. Klugh. The funeral will be held Friday.

James Monroe Karns was born 15 Mar 1858 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was married twice, first married Annie E. Myers, to this union several children were born. After Annie's death in 1920, was married to Abigail A. Diller, they made their home at 801 Factory St. Carlisle, PA. James Monroe Karns died on 21 Apr 1931 at his home. He is buried along side of his first wife Annie at Dillsburg Cemetery, Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania.
