U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Transylvania University, in 1845, was admitted to the bar in 1845 and commenced to practice law in Hartford, Kentucky. He was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1851-53, 65-67) and served in the Kentucky State Senate, (1861-65). In 1871, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second Congress, serving until 1873. After leaving Congress, he resumed the practice of law and was a member of the Democratic National Committee, until his death.
